Allegri Sacked by Juventus

Juventus Fire Coach Massimiliano Allegri

Italian giants Juventus have sacked coach Massimiliano Allegri just two days after he led the side to the Italian Cup victory. Allegri was dismissed on Friday, May 17, 2024, following an ugly outburst towards the club's management.

The decision to fire Allegri was made after a meeting of the Juventus board, who reportedly felt that his behavior was unacceptable and had damaged the club's reputation.

"We have decided to relieve Massimiliano Allegri of his position as head coach of the men's first team," Juventus said in a statement. "We would like to thank him for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club."

Allegri had been in charge of Juventus since 2014 and had won five Serie A titles, four Italian Cups, and two Supercoppa Italiana during his tenure.

The 55-year-old coach had been under pressure in recent months due to Juventus' poor form in the Champions League. The team was eliminated in the group stage of the competition this season and has not reached the semi-finals since 2018.

Allegri's Outburst

The incident that led to Allegri's dismissal occurred after Juventus' 2-1 victory over Atalanta in the Italian Cup final. Allegri was caught on camera shouting and gesturing angrily at the club's management during the post-match press conference.

It is understood that Allegri was upset with the club's failure to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.

Allegri's Replacement

Juventus have not yet announced who will replace Allegri as coach. However, reports suggest that the club is considering appointing former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

Zidane is a Juventus legend and has won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid. He is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Allegri.
